Hockey fans Denis Belliveau (with Ray Bourque) and Scott Pitts (with Stéphane Richer) travelled from Black River to meet the hockey legends and get their autographs.
Charles Faucher, a West Hants Warriors hockey player, was one of many youngsters who had the opportunity to meet former professional hockey star Ray Bourque. He plans to attend Long Pond on Jan. 21 to cheer the hockey legend on.

“I've been a Bruins fan since I was four, watching Bobby Orr. Ray Bourque is a classic,” said Denis Belliveau, of Black River, Kings County.

Belliveau and his friend, Scott Pitts, also a hockey fan, travelled to the Falmouth dealership to meet the stars. Both said it was an incredible experience to meet them and get their autograph.

Bourque, who holds records for most career goals, assists, and points for a defenceman in the NHL, and Richer, who scored 50 goals for the Montreal Canadiens in 1987–88 and 51 in 1989–90, are two of three NHLers in town for the Jan. 21 fundraiser. They will be joined by Joe DiPenta, who grew up in Cole Harbour and won a Stanley Cup in 2007 with the Anaheim Ducks.

Retired NHLer Andre 'Moose' Dupont had to cancel his appearance at the Long Pond Hockey Heritage Classic due to illness.

The annual hockey tournament is held at Long Pond, where many hockey buffs say hockey was invented. The fundraising event gets underway Jan. 21.

Brianna Noseworthy, of Lower Sackville, smiles as Stéphane Richer autographs a photo. Noseworthy visited Pothier Motors Jan. 20 in order to get some merchandise signed for her step-brother, who is a huge hockey fan.
Hockey fans came from near and far to meet longtime Boston Bruins player Ray Bourque, who was in Windsor Jan. 20-21.
Hockey sticks, pucks, jerseys, trading cards and photographs were among the many items that former NHL stars autographed for area residents.
