The Cape Breton Eagles reassigned seven players following the QMJHL team’s final pre-season home game against the Moncton Wildcats on Saturday night.

Forwards Brady Hunter, Marc Richard, Alex Cormier, Jacob Santerre, defencemen Matt Power and Jacob Christie and goaltender Ewan MacDonald were cut from training camp.

Cape Breton, which defeated Moncton 8-5, has 28 players remaining in camp.

The Eagles’ next pre-season game is Sept. 14 in Fredericton against the Saint John Sea Dogs.

The Halifax Mooseheads released 11 players from their training camp roster on Saturday.

Defencemen William Smith, Jack McGovern, Zachary Byard and Zacharie Bordeleau were reassigned along with forwards Nathan MacMillan, Merle Putnam, Seva Losev, Bryan Laureigh and Landon Miron and goalies Tyler Caseley and Jonathan Pickrem.

That leaves 27 players left at training camp.

Halifax next plays on Sept. 6 for a pre-season tilt at Moncton.
