Margaret Mosher — Liverpool

Margaret Mosher
Mosher, Margaret Ruth, Age 91, of Liverpool passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Saturday morning July 22, 2017. Born in Southampton, Ontario, March 5, 1926, Marg was the daughter of the late Edwin Joseph and Margaret Matilda (Haley) McKnight. In 1947 she moved to Liverpool with her husband Murray. Mom (GG) will be remembered for many things in our family, but mostly she was the glue that bound us all together. Her children, their respective partners, grandchildren and great grandchildren meant everything to her. Nothing gave her more joy than to have everyone together for special family gatherings, whether it was Labour Day weekend at the cottage at Ponhook Lake or Thanksgiving, Easter and especially Christmas in the family home. For all the years from the time of each of our births right up to the present, she made the Christmas holidays seem like our first time. She kept the spirit and excitement of the season going for everyone, reminding us how lucky we all were to be together. Marg was well known for her culinary skills and shared her wonderful cooking and elegant, baked desserts for many events outside the home. That same festive spirit and hard work in preparing for family events also carried over into her role as a strong leader and organizer within the larger community of Liverpool and beyond. She was Past President of the Liverpool Ladies Golf Club, Honorary Life Member of the Liverpool Golf Club and Past President of the Liverpool Ladies Curling Club. As well, she was a Charter Member, Director at Large and Honorary Life Member of the Atlantic Senior Ladies Golf Association. She also served as President of the Anglican Church Women at Trinity Anglican Church as well as being a member of the Altar Guild. For many years she was an active volunteer for various events for Queens General Hospital. Marg loved to entertain, sew, dance, travel, attend theatre productions, watch her favourite sports, and she will be remembered as a passionate, competent bridge player who took great joy in the challenges of the game for many years playing with likeminded friends both in Liverpool and Deerfield Beach, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband, Murray, of over 55 years, her sister Katherine Magee (Norm) and her brother Douglas (Betty) McKnight. She is survived by her sister Esther Crompton (Don) and many nieces and nephews, all of her children, Kenneth Mosher (Shirley Frank), Mill Village; Shirley Mosher, Halifax; Hugh Mosher, Toronto; Esther Mosher (Michelle Forrest), Windsor, N.S.; Ruth Anne Zwicker (Kevin Cole), Liverpool, her grandchildren Eric (Kristine) Mosher, Mill Village; James Mosher, Dartmouth; Joel Zwicker (Natasha), Liverpool; Jennifer de Ruyter (Matthew), Toronto, and her precious great grandchildren, Caleb, Sarah, Karl, Samantha, Keir, Gage and Lexi. The family would like to give a warm and heartfelt thank you to the wonderful team of caregivers (Dale, Darlene, Wendy, Kim, Margo, Bev), the VON and Dr. Tim Woodford who helped our Mom and family through these past months. Visitation will take place on Friday, July 28th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Chandler’s Funeral Home, Liverpool. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, on Saturday, July 29th at 3:00 p.m. followed by a reception in the adjoining Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Queens General Hospital Foundation, Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool, or the V.O.N.
