YARMOUTH, N.S. — The Yarmouth Rural RCMP have been searching for a man missing from East Kemptville, Yarmouth County, who was reported missing on Feb. 11. Search efforts thus far have failed to locate the man.

Dieter "Frank" Winter, 64, of Brandee's Lane has not been seen since Feb. 5. He was reported missing on Feb. 11. He is known to walk and hike extensively in the area.

After the missing person report was made to the RCMP, local volunteer Ground Search and Rescue personnel were called out to assist, and RCMP Air Services was also called. Searches took place last week.

The lake and shoreline near Winter's home was searched with negative results. On Feb. 12, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team assisted in the search and were not able to dive due to ice conditions on the lake. The ground search continued through Feb. 13 with negative results.

The RCMP issued a media release on Feb. 18 seeking the public’s help in locating the man’s whereabouts. The man’s name had not been disclosed earlier while the search was underway because family members living outside of the country had yet to be located or/and contacted.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dieter "Frank" Winter is asked to contact Yarmouth Rural RCMP at 902-742-9106. Should you wish to remain anonymous call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submit a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca, or use the P3 Tips App.
