SHELBURNE, N.S. — The Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) is advising the public that the emergency department at Roseway Hospital will be closed Tuesday, March 19, starting at 6 p.m. and will reopen Wednesday, March 20, at 9 a.m. This is due to lack of physician coverage.

UPDATE: The department was to close overnight on Wednesday, March 20 but physician coverage has been secured to keep the emergency department open.

When the emergency department is closed, NSHA says anyone with urgent medical needs should call 911, particularly if experiencing unusual symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest tightness, abdominal pain, persistent headache or dizziness, or an injury requiring stitches or involving a broken bone.

For general health advice and information call 811, which is a service offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week by experienced registered nurses.

The Mental Health Crisis Line can also be reached 24/7 by calling 1-888-429-8167.
