Two men face attempted murder and other charges after a man was run down by a car and attacked in Waycobah on Sunday morning.

Joshua Lindsay Paul, 26, and Robert Lindsay Paul, 34, both from Eskasoni, remain in custody and will be appearing in Port Hawkesbury provincial court Monday.

They face charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and assault with a weapon after a man was allegedly struck by a car and then attacked on Highway 105 at about 3:30 a.m.

Before the report of the hit and run, Inverness RCMP received multiple 911 calls about a man being chased by two other men on Portage Road, RCMP said in a news release Sunday.

“It was determined at the scene that the two incidents were related,” police said. “The victim appears to have been struck by a gold coloured car and then attacked by the occupants with an object.”

The man was taken to Inverness Hospital with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.

Later Sunday morning, RCMP arrested two men and a woman at a residence in Waycobah. The woman was released without charges.

The attack isn’t considered to be random because the victim and the suspects know each other, police said.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact Inverness County RCMP at 902-625-2220. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
