ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Operators of the Hibernia platform off the coast of Newfoundland are investigating a sheen observed on the water near the oil production facility.

The Hibernia Management and Development Company Ltd. (HMDC) says all platform personal are safe and that a standby vessel in the area is providing mechanical dispersion of the sheen.

HMDC says it has notified the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) about the sheen and that more information will be released as it becomes available.
