Police investigate armed robbery at Halifax gas station

Investigators with the Halifax Regional Police's sexual assault investigation team of the integrated criminal investigation Division have charged a 76-year-old man in relation to a historical sexual assault that occurred in Halifax in the 1980s.

Police are investigating a robbery at a gas station on Lacewood Drive in Halifax.

According to a Halifax Regional Police news release, officers responded at 3:09 a.m. on Sunday morning to the Irving station at 280 Lacewood, where a caller reported that a man armed with a knife had fled on foot after stealing an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured in the heist.

"Patrol officers and a Police Service Dog responded to the scene and conducted a thorough track, but were not able to locate the suspect," the release said.

The suspect is described as a white man between 19 and 30 years old, wearing a light blue hooded jacket, jeans and gloves.
