Halifax Regional Police have charged an acupuncturist with two additional sexual assault charges after two women came forward after the first alleged sexual assault was reported.

On Dec. 28, 2018, police received a report from a woman that she was sexually assaulted in September 2018 at Qing Li Chinese Therapy Acupuncture at 206-1535 Dresden Row.

After an investigation, Xiao Han Li, 32 of Halifax, was arrested on Sept. 18.

On Sept. 19, the Crown consented to Li’s release on a $2,000 recognizance.

On Sept. 20, police received a report from a woman who said she had been sexually assaulted at Qing Li Chinese Therapy Acupuncture between February and August, police said in a news release.

On Sept. 22, another woman reported she had been sexually assault in February at the same clinic.

Li was arrested by police at 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday. He was to appear in Halifax provincial court later in the day to face two counts of sexual assault.

In his court appearance in September, Judge Michael Sherar ordered Li to remain in Nova Scotia, surrender his passport to a police detective, and have no contact with the complainant and three other people.

Li is also prohibited from possessing any weapons and from being with any female patient unless another woman is present.
