We asked: What are your wishes for Cape Breton in 2020?
Dennis MacIntyre
South Bar
“I hope for prosperity. We need a positive outlook going into 2020 and I hope something will come forward in the way of an economic turn that will really work in our favour, something that will give our young people hope and give them options to stay here in Cape Breton.”
Brad Brown
Albert Bridge
“We need more jobs around here. So, I’m hoping for better economic news in the new year for our area. We certainly could use some more jobs, so my wish is for a stronger local economy that results in more and better jobs in Cape Breton.”
Joyce Irene MacDonald
Sydney
“My hopes are positive and optimistic. I am wishing that the downtown area of Sydney improves, prospers and thrives better than it ever has before. A good downtown brings people out and is good for the entire community.”
Walter Rutherford
Sydney
“Since I spend a lot of time at the rink, my hopes for Cape Breton in 2020 would include a successful playoff run for the Sydney Mitsubishi Rush major midget team and a really deep playoff run for the Cape Breton Eagles.”
Stephen Graham
Judique
“Over on the west side of the island we are seeing a lot of growth, things like the golf courses in Inverness. We’re seeing more people come home, so I’m hoping that we can continue to experience economic growth and prosperity. People there are positive about the future.”
