On Saturday, July 21 to Sunday, July 22, the Lunenburg Art Gallery will host the 18th annual Paint Sea on Site Art Festival.

About 70 artists from all over will converge for a two-day painting extravaganza where artists will set up their easels all over Lunenburg and the surrounding area. Paint Sea on Site Art Festival gives the public the opportunity to observe artists at work and have the chance to buy work they’ve been watching the artist create.

The artwork produced each day is sold in a silent auction. Proceeds from each painting are split between the artist and the Lunenburg Art Gallery.

The silent auction is at the Lunenburg Community Centre both days of the event. You may pay the “take away” price up until 3:30 p.m. All bidding ends at 4:30 p.m. each day.

In a town such as Lunenburg that rivals Santa Fe, New Mexico’s reputation for having the most people involved in art, this event brings a vitality that enhances the already established art community.

The registration fee to participate in Paint Sea on Site Art Festival is $25. This includes coffee and muffins both mornings, a bagged lunch, a mix and mingle reception on Saturday at 5 p.m, a yellow ball cap and a goodie bag. Registration forms are available online at www.paintseaonsiteartfestival.com and at the gallery, for both the adult and children’s events.

The festival will also include a children’s art event that takes place on Saturday, July 21, and offers a morning workshop. Registration includes a painting kit, a one half-hour art lesson, yellow ball cap and cookies. The children will also receive a slice of pizza after they return to the Lunenburg Community Centre with their paintings. Their artwork will be displayed all day Saturday, but is not offered for sale. The price for this event is $10 per child.

Artists will sign in at the Lunenburg Community Centre on 21D Green St., Lunenburg on Saturday, July 21 at 8:30 a.m. (or Sunday, July 22, if painting only that day).

Please contact the Lunenburg Art Gallery for registration, guidelines and information at 902-640-4044 or [email protected].
