More Barho family members are to arrive in Canada today, two months after the tragic Spryfield fire.
The group will be the second set of family members to join Kawthar and Ebraheim Barho in Canada. The first group arrived on Feb. 25.
Kawthar requested to have family members brought over after she lost her children Ahmed, 15; Rola, 12; Mohamad, 9; Ola, 8; Hala, 3 and Rana, 2, and Abdullah, born on Nov. 9, in a house fire on Feb. 19.
Information, such as how many people or where they were arriving from, is not being provided out of respect for the family’s privacy, said Halifax MP Andy Fillmore.
“Kawthar would like to thank everyone who has reached out to support her and her husband, Ebraheim, over the past two months,” the Hants East Assisting Refugees Team Society said in a news release. The Barhos came to Nova Scotia from Syria in 2017.
“The love and generosity of Canadians has been a light in a very dark time,” the society said.
Ebraheim remains in hospital recovering from severe burns.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing, said Halifax Fire deputy chief Dave Meldrum.
