This is a letter to say thank you. To every member who purchased a subscription or a single copy of a SaltWire newspaper this year, thank you. To every advertiser who chose to spend their marketing dollars with us, thank you. Thank you for supporting local journalism, for believing that our local stories need to be told by local people and for giving us your trust as we work to provoke thought and action for the betterment of our communities.
In 2019, we made many changes to products and services across the SaltWire Network. Some of those changes – like the launch of SaltWire.com and our 10-month-long Deep Dives series – you loved. Some, like the evolution of our comics and puzzles offering, you had mixed feelings about (we heard you, and did our best to fix them).
We are grateful for all of the feedback we receive because it makes us better. We can’t action everything (and as you can imagine we don’t always have agreement amongst readers!), but please know our team is listening and considering how we can respond in a way that supports the health of the business and ensures our communities get what they want and need.
Our day-to-day work isn’t easy; we do it against a strong headwind. But we also do it with a fierce commitment to this place and the people in it. We’re in this with you and we’re grateful to go to work every day to do our best for you.
With gratitude,
Mark Lever, CEO
