Brian Fralic says a group of about seven people who support Liverpool’s LGBT community got together to do the mysterious act after dark in an effort to celebrate Pride.

“Its about diversity and acceptance and celebrating Pride Week in Halifax, and its also tied back to Orlando, which I think everyone is upping their celebrations to honor the victims of Orlando.”

Fralic says the group went out after dark, dressed in black, and decorated the posts with multi-colored duct tape.

“It was really fun because when we were doing it people were blowing the horn and saying ‘happy pride’,” he said.

“We did it after dark because Pride Bombings have to be done after dark.”

He’s not sure how many poles were done, but all on Main Street and many on Market Street.

“We’ve heard nothing but great coments. I’m sure there’s going to be a few negative ones but we don’t listen to those. It gets the message out that we care and we understand that this community needs to be honoured, and this is the time. It was timely.”

Fralic says the group “had a blast” doing it.

“We took lots of pictures and we had a really good time with it.”
