Customers have the chance to give Municipality of Chester businesses a virtual pat on the back this month by nominating their favourites in an annual people’s choice award program.

The Best Of Chester Municipality kicks off its fourth year with a record number of nominations so far; an indication of the month to come, hopes Erin Lowe, Economic Development Officer for the Municipality of Chester and program coordinator.

“We are fortunate to have so many exceptional businesses that stand out in our Municipality in terms of service and product,” says Lowe. “Nominating an excellent business is easy. Choosing which one to nominate is the hard part.”

Customers can use an online submission process to nominate businesses in 23 categories from Best Artisanal Retailer to Best Realtor. All businesses must operate within, or have an office located in, the Municipality of Chester boundary. To level the playing field, nominations are limited to one submission per category per device (mobile, laptop, tablet). Multiple submissions are accepted provided they aren’t for the same category.

Once nominations close at midnight on April 29, they will be tallied and the top three nominees in each category will be presented to the public for a round of voting starting on May 3 and lasting until midnight on May 26.

After nearly a month of collecting votes, the winning businesses in each category will be announced at the May 30th Municipal Council meeting. Official awards will be hand delivered to each recipient in the weeks following the announcement, and winners will be promoted online and in print.

“The businesses in our community, both new start-ups and long-serving, are some of the best examples of success in the region.” says Allen Webber, Warden for the Municipality of Chester. “If we have the opportunity to show them appreciation and acknowledge their valuable contribution, we are happy to facilitate that.”

Anyone wishing to nominate their pick is invited to do so at www.chester.ca/BestOf until April 29. For more information about the process or program, please contact Erin Lowe at 902-275-4138 or email [email protected].
