A 73-year-old Lunenburg County man died just after 9 a.m. April 19 following a boating accident that occurred near Dean Lake Road.
According to a press release from the RCMP, the man and a woman had been out fishing, and when he attempted to start the motor, both occupants fell into the water. The two swam towards the shore and when the woman arrived, she realized the man wasn't with her. She was able to bring him to shore and contacted 911.
Paramedics were not able to revive the man and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The woman was transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
