The $880,000 project took nearly six months to complete. The Government of Canada contributed $440,000 and Université Sainte-Anne matched that contribution to get the full budget.

“We are extremely grateful for the investments made by the Government of Canada, which allow the university to provide quality infrastructure and resources to our communities,” said Allister Surette, President and Vice-Chancellor of Universitie Sainte-Anne, during the Nov. 2 official reopening. “These are more resources and advanced technologies that Universitie Sainte-Anne can offer to contribute to the vitality of remote and minority communities.”

The new and modernized space has been completely renovated with new technology, including Mac laptops, iPads, PC computers, new cameras, smartboards and webcams for video conferencing. In addition, new furniture for the common areas, a computer lab, new windows, LED lights to save on energy costs and new meeting rooms have been added.

“We are pleased to offer a place where students and the public can feel comfortable to learn,” added Surette.

The library is available for students but the public is welcome to visit as well.

Visitors from the public must obtain a free library card in order to use the space, but with a library card they can check out books, use any technology in the space and book the meeting rooms for no cost.

“All these resources will definitely benefit students and our communities for years to come,” said Surette.

For more information about the library or to obtain a library card, visitors are encouraged to visit the library at Université Sainte-Anne or email comptoir@usainteanne.ca
