Shirley and Doug Adams celebrated their 60th anniversary on Oct. 5 at the Greenfield fire hall. The happy couple received congratulatory messages and certificates from Gov.-Gen. Julie Payette, Liberal leader Justin Trudeau, Nova Scotia Lt.-Gov. Arthur LeBlanc, Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil, Region of Queens Municipality mayor David Dagley and Halifax Regional Municipality mayor Michael Savage. Prior to retirement, Doug Adams was a popular Queens councillor for 12 years, and served as deputy mayor for eight of those dozen years. Shirley and Doug are both active community volunteers.
