The beautiful DesBrisay Museum and adjacent Woodlands Park was the setting for the first annual Bridgewater and Area Chamber of Commerce Family Picnic. The picnic, held on Sunday, Sept. 16, was an opportunity for the president and board of directors to network in a relaxed environment with the general membership.

The event had everything that a great family picnic would need to be a success. The Bridgewater Fire Department Band Dixieland ensemble performed all afternoon to a very appreciative audience. Food was provided by MJs Street Side Grill food truck and did not disappoint the hungry crowd. The young ones had a great time in the bouncy castle and riding around on the Bridgewater Lions Club train.

When asked why the picnic happened and what were his thoughts on the success, Bridgewater Chamber president Jim Brown said, “We held our picnic as a way to say thank you to our existing members and welcome our new members into the Chamber,” he said. “It also presented us with an opportunity to introduce our new board and its direction to the Bridgewater and area community.

“Events such as the picnic are one of the many ways the board plans on reaching out to the community and gain understanding of what the members need and how we can better serve then as well as the business community as a whole. We were happy to see the 30 plus members who turned out, as well as the community members who stopped by for some great food and music. In this busy time of the year, it is difficult to anticipate how many people will attend. We were able to take time to talk with and make a connection with many of our members and partners in the area. That in itself means the event was a success. I can’t wait to build on that success over the next year,” said Brown.
