Opening Night: Queens County Blades host year end ice show

LIVERPOOL - The Queens County Blades held their year end ice show on March 20 after another successful year of figure skating.

The ice show was titled "Opening Night" and skaters performed to a collection of Broadway musical tunes. The show also included solos performed by junior and senior skaters.

Two senior skaters were recognized by coach Heidi Clattenburg during the intermission of the show. Lauren Amirault won the Jan Clattenburg Skater of the Year award. Amirault recently won won gold in all four of her events, junior silver ladies, open element event, open team event, and intro interpretive event at provincials.

 Victoria Hopper, a Grade 12 student at Liverpool Regional High School and a senior sater was also recognized by her coach for her hard work as both a skater and a coach. Hopper recently won silver in her interpretive and her open team won gold at provincials.

This year has been a very successful year for the Queens County Blades. All six of Clattenburg's senior skaters have qualified for the Skate Atlantica competition being held in April in East Hants.
