Two Queens County teams succeed at championships

The weekend of March 24-26 was very busy in Queens County as the Western Nova Minor Hockey League Day of Champions took place at Queens Place Emera Centre.

On Friday Evening, the Queens County Midget A Cougars played the Halifax Hawks in a bid for the South Conference championship and a chance to play in Provincials. However, they were unsuccessful in their game, losing to Halifax Hawks 2-3.  On Saturday afternoon, the Midget A team played South Shore Ice Sharks, defeating them 4-0 and taking the WNMHL Championship.  Congratulations to the Midget A team and coaches on a great season.

The Queens County Atom B Cougars also took part in the WNMHL Day of Champions, taking silver in their game on Saturday morning, with a 6-7 loss to the West Hants Warriors.  On Sunday afternoon, the Atom B Cougars took on the Sackville Flyers for the Hockey Nova Scotia South Conference Championship, winning 4-3 in overtime.  The Atom B Cougars will play against the North Conference Champions, Mabou/Port Hood Islanders, in the Provincial Day of Champions in Bridgewater, at the LCLC on Friday, April 7, as they attempt to win the Provincial Championship title.  Good luck to our Atom B Cougars and their coaches.
