The Privateers, who trailed 5-0 heading into the third period, scored eight unanswered goals to take Game 1 of the Best of Seven Fred Fox Divisional Final.
The Privateers made it 5-3 in a span of about two minutes, and after playing for a few minutes, went in front 6-5 with three goals in 55 seconds.
The seventh goal came with 3:56 left in the third and the eighth went into an empty net with 44 seconds showing on the clock.
The Leafs started off exceptionally strong. Stuart Kennie and the Junior C River Rats' call up Logan Cleveland scored in the first for a 2-0 lead.
Wesley Demone demonstrated tremendous skating ability to score short-handed just 10 seconds after Liverpool went on the power-play to put the Leafs up 3-0.
With 4:19 to play in the second, Graeme McKinley took a shot on the Liverpool net and Isaac Bridge pounced on the rebound to make it 4-0. With only 2:45 Kennie drilled a shot into an empty Liverpool net, as the goaltender was attempting to clear the puck, for a 5-0 lead.
Scoring in the third period for Liverpool were: Gavyn Connell-Helle, Derek Nelson and Alex Nauss with two apiece and Connor Nauss and Stone Harnish each adding one.
The teams traded 39 shots apiece with the Privateers only outshooting the Leafs 18-17 in the third period. Cory Peterson and Logan MacEwan shared goaltending duties for the Privateers while Christopher Clokie was tagged with the loss.
Game 2 goes at the Emera Centre in Liverpool March 11 at 7:15 p.m.
Game 3 will be back at the Hants Exhibition Arena March 17, and Game 4 will be in Liverpool on March 19.
