Clyde River's River Hills ready to host 2018 MCT Men’s Amateur Championship

CLYDE RIVER, N.S. – Registration for the 2018 MCT Men’s Amateur Championship being hosted at the River Hills Golf Club in Clyde River is starting to fill up.

“The course is ready, the clubhouse is ready. The NSGA (Nova Scotia Golf Association) was down last week and were thrilled with what they saw and are excited to be hosting this event at River Hills,” said tournament organizer Karla Wilms.

One of the most prestigious men’s golf events in the province, registration for the July 5 to 8 tournament closes on Friday, June 22 at 4 p.m. The NSGA has announced for 2018 only, there will be no cut, and all competitors will receive four rounds of competitive golf plus a practice round. Registration will also include one meal. In addition, all competitors who compete in 2018 will receive an exemption into the 2019 MCT Men’s Amateur at the Abercrombie Country Club. The 2019 Men’s Amateur will be a qualifier for the 2019 Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship that will take place in Nova Scotia at the Glen Arbour Golf Club and the Links of Brunello.

The top three competitors at this year’s Men’s Amateur will receive funding so as to be able to participate in the 2018 Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship being held at the Duncan Meadows Golf Course and Pheasant Glen Golf Resort in Qualicum, B.C. In addition to the team funding, the NSGA will allocate an additional 5 quota spots for Nova Scotians to play in the Canadian Men’s Amateur. (there will be no funding for quota spots).
