Amy Frayle

Amy slipped away silently into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on the evening of Saturday, January 27, 2018, in her 96th year. She was born in Milton, Nova Scotia, second daughter of the late George and Nettie Hollingsworth. Beloved wife of the late Gerald Frayle (1996). Dear Mother of Ernest (Marg), Doreen, Errold (Joan), Brian (Maureen), Wayne and Janet and mother-in-law of Lynne. Cherished Grandma of 11 Grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by daughter Thora, son-in-law Henry, son Raymond, grandchild Jim, great-grandchildren Braun and Natalia and sister Ora. Her biggest life passion was being a devoted wife and a dedicated, caring mother. Years later with her husband and seven children, they moved to Kiosk, Ontario where they had their eighth child. A wonderful homemaker she always made all of her own bread, cakes, cookies and pies ‘from scratch’ to feed her large family. As children, coming home from school to the smell of bread not long out of the oven is one of our fondest memories. She loved to knit mittens and socks, embroider tea towels and table cloths and she made numerous quilts which have gone to many parts of the world. There were many vacations ‘down home’ to Nova Scotia to visit parents and others. When Gerald retired, they made the move back to North Bay, specifically Mattawa, where they spent many years until Gerald's passing in 1996. She then moved to London to be closer to her children and enjoyed her later years there. With her daughters she travelled by minivan throughout Canada – from Ontario northwest to Inuvik NWT twice, touring much of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C. as well. They also went east to Newfoundland & Labrador. Amy’s favorite thing to do was to pick berries – any kind of berries! Even partridge berries in Labrador. She was ‘Mom’ to many of our friends, just a really gentle lovable person and will be missed by all. A memorial service has been held in London ON, and burial will be at a later date.
