WHITE POINT – To mark every full moon in 2018, White Point Beach Resort is holding special activities.

The full moon events are part of its 90th anniversary celebrations and will feature a series of outdoor events and invites the community to join in for a unique full moon experience.

April is no exception.  According to the Farmers Almanac, the full moon that rises in April is known as the “pink moon,” named after the ground phlox that comes into blossom this month. It has also been referred to as the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon and Fish Moon, explains Donna Hatt, the resort’s marketing manager.

On April 29, White Point has joined forces with Liverpool’s Ivan Higgins and his Concrete Creations along with Hell Bay Brewery, Boxing Rock Brewery and Tanner & Co Brewery to help create and serve up a dark sky experience in one of the most unique locations in the community, says Hatt.

Upon arrival at the Concrete Creations garden at Crosby’s Garden Centre, guests will gather at a bonfire for a meet-and-greet and sample a selection of craft beer presented by the brewery partners, says Hatt.

“Guided by the moonlight, and night vision flashlights, we'll head out along the well-groomed trail to meander and experience Ivan's creations in the dark,” she says.

While many have enjoyed these by day, the night experience is expected to be mysterious, intimate and memorable. Following the tour, Hatt says guests will then roast marshmallows and marvel at the experience, before heading home.

The concrete creations are permanently in place with Higgins continuing to add to them over the years. Many people don't realize the 'Narnia-like' world even exists, tucked in behind Cosby's Garden Centre, says Hatt.

“It is our hope that this event will help raise awareness about this incredible sculpture garden is here in our backyard,” she says.

Hatt adds that it’s perfect for kids to explore and families to share together. For couples and those interested in gardens and sculpture, this is a must see.

If you go: The Moon Walk: Crafty & Concrete under the Pink Moon event will take place on April 29 from 8-9:30 p.m. with a minimum donation of $5 to support Higgin’s concrete work. A maximum of 50 guests need to respond before April 26 by phoning 1-800-565-5068 ext 1 / 902-354-2711 ext 1. This event is open to those 19 years and older.
