Liverpool’s annual Remembrance Day ceremony will once again take place at the Astor Theatre.
The ceremony, which is set to take place Nov. 11, will begin with legion members parading from the legion building to the theatre, said Peter Anthony, chaplain for the legion. The Mersey Band will be providing music for the service.
This year’s guest speaker is Warrant Officer Lou Landry.
The honour roll will take place, announcing the names of those who fought in the First World War, Second World War and the Korean War. The names of people from Queens County who have participated in more recent wars – such as Bosnia or Afghanistan – will also be read.
“After that, there will be a Christian service of a sort,” said Anthony.
The service will involve hymns and scripture readings, he added. There will be clergy from various churches at the service.
At the end, people will gather outside by the cenotaph for wreath laying.
Milton
Milton is scheduled to have its annual ceremony at Milton Memorial Hall at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 11.
After the service, there’s a free lunch.
Brooklyn
Brooklyn holds its Remembrance Day service start at St. Andrew’s church at 10 a.m. Nov. 5.
“We hope to be at the cenotaph around 11 a.m.,” said Anthony.
