LIVERPOOL, N.S. – Organizers of the Privateer Days parade have a special announcement.
This year’s Lions Grand Street Parade marshals will be the Happy Wheelers Club from the Queens Manor.
“For years, we have been trying to figure out how to incorporate the Queens Manor residents in taking part in Privateer Days. We finally found the answer,” says Brian Fralic, the festival’s executive director.
According to Fralic, the parade committee always looks for a person or persons who make an impact or a difference in the community to be the parade marshals. Many businesses, local community members and visitors can spot volunteers wheeling residents around town on sunny days. The residents of Queens Manor certainly look forward to this biweekly outing, says Fralic.
“We couldn't think of a better parade marshal to lead us through this annual parade,” he says, adding the group will be seen wheeling at the start of the parade.
Past parade marshals have included the Privateer Hockey team, an historian, and members from the Special Olympics.
This year’s parade will be held on Saturday, June 23 at 11 a.m. and starts at Queens Place Emera Centre, heads through Bristol Avenue and up Main Street.
“We can't wait to see their smiling faces as we great them with welcoming waves and hellos!” says Fralic.
