The Queens District RCMP wishes to advise residents that parts of downtown Liverpool will be closed to motorists briefly on Friday between 6:30 and 7:05 p.m. in celebration of Christmas on the Mersey.
Market Street along Main to Gorham Street will be closed. Additionally, Market Street to Lane’s Privateer Inn will be closed, effectively closing the bridge except to pedestrian traffic.
Motorists are asked to use West Street or detour around the cordoned area for access to and from downtown during this time. Should the procession leaving the Astor Theatre arrive at Lane’s earlier than he time mentioned, the roads will be reopened, said a news release.
The RCMP encourages motorists to be vigilant for a large group of pedestrians Friday night and help ensure everyone enjoys a safe Christmas celebration.
