QUEENS COUNTY - While Queens County did not receive the full anticipated impact of the storm, there are isolated power outages, and there is some isolated flooding, says a storm watch update on the Region of Queens Municipality’s website.
The update advises people to be aware and cautious of debris on the highways and roadways. It also asks people to keep a safe distance from waves.
“Queens seems to have done quite well through the storm,” said David Dagley, mayor of the Region of Queens. “Of course we had residents who lost power. Some have been reconnected and some are still looking for service to be reconnected.”
The mayor says it could take some time.
Dagly says there have been some rocks thrown on the grass at Fort Point Lighthouse Park.
“It normally occurs when we have a big surge and the waves are crashing in, so that’s to be expected,” he said. “The Region staff will clean that up.”
The Western Head causeway / Shore Road has been closed and is expected to reopen around 12 p.m., says the Region’s storm watch update.
