The Queens County Dogwood Festival is back and presented by the Queens Garden Club and the Mersey Band. The festival will take place on Saturday, July 7, and all are welcome.

From noon until 2 p.m., tea and other goodies will be served by Mersey Band members at Trinity Church Hall, 198 Church St., in Liverpool. Luncheon will include musical accompaniment by members of the Mersey Band, too. Tickets are $10 and proceeds will go to the Mersey Band summer band camp and training program to be held later this summer.

This band camp gives would-be musicians an opportunity to learn an instrument with qualified instructors. There are intermediate and senior levels as well. More than one participant has gone on to play in the Mersey Band. Instruments are provided (unless you have your own) and participation in the summer band camp offers a chance for learning and enrichment.

Of course, don’t forget the dogwoods. The Dogwood Festival Tea includes garden tours of:

Cosby’s Garden Centre and Greenhouses/Sculpture Gardens from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Allen Gardens, 237 Church St., Liverpool, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Julie Petrella Garden, 120 Main St., Liverpool, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Julie Petrella Garden, 120 Main St., Liverpool, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Diane McNeill, 4 Central St., Liverpool, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Dogwood Festival Tea display at the Trinity Church hall from noon to 2 p.m.
