The third annual Nova Scotia Lumberjack Championships were hosted on the South Shore for the first time on June 16 and 17, attracting hundreds of spectators to the Wild Axe Park in Barrington to watch as competitors from as far away as Quebec sawed, chopped and rolled their way to prize money wins.

Hosted by the North Nova Lumberjack Society, organizers say they are “very happy” with the results of the event, from the spectator turnout and hard-working volunteers who kept things going, to the competitors who put on a fantastic show and the generous sponsorship support which allowed them to put on a high paying and nationally televised event.
