LIVERPOOL - “Days of Christmas now are here, everyone is full of cheer, it’s the very best time of the year.”
Those words rang out at Sobeys in Liverpool Nov. 25.
A number of people – big and small – donned festive hats and gathered for the video taping of the song Star of Christmas. The popular jingle, part of a commercial originally created by Sobeys in the 1980s, has been a fan favourite for many Nova Scotians and returned by popular demand last year.
Jonathan Gee, store manager, invited people to gather by the big tree inside near the deli counter.
Those who came to sing got lyrics, and there was music accompaniment.
Once completed, Gee planned to upload the video to a website, and the store whose video gets the most likes will get $5,000 to donate to a community charity or non-profit group.
After the event, there was hot chocolate, hot apple cider and children go to decorate cookies.
