A fire broke out on the former HMCS Algonquin, which is being recycled at Port Mersey Commercial Park by R.J. MacIsaac Ltd.
This is the fourth fire to break out one a vessel that has been brought to Liverpool to be recycled by the Antigonish-based company.
Four fire departments were called about 12:30 today to battle the blaze.
Sources say the fire appears to have started by someone cutting up the ship.
Two weeks ago, the former Protecteur broke out in flames, for the third time in less than a year.
Tim Crowe, general manager of Port Mersey Commercial Park, said this afternoon the fire was put out quickly.
He says the cause is still under investigation.
