LIVERPOOL - Residents in the constituency of Queens-Shelburne will now find it a lot more convenient to bring their concerns forward to their MLA.
MLA Kim Masland has opened a new office located in the heart of Liverpool, at 279 Main St., locally known as the former Dancing Chicken or KFC.
Her office in Shelburne, located at 25 King St., will remain open with part-time office hours so that constituents are able to share their concerns without having to travel to Liverpool.
“Both offices are very accessible, as accessibility to all constituents is important to me,” says Masland.
With the start of the new season and new office, Masland says she will be focusing on health care, doctors and mental health, as well as jobs and the cost of living.
Areas of concern in this constituency, she says, include road conditions, access to rural internet, Carter’s Beach in Queens, ER closures at the Roseway Hospital in Shelburne and seniors’ issues in both counties.
“I am also looking forward to examining the cyberbullying legislation being brought forth in the House,” says Masland.
After putting her name forth for nomination a year ago, Masland was officially elected as MLA for Queens-Shelburne in May 2017. Prior to becoming an MLA, Masland worked in the banking industry and as a constituency assistant. She is a member of the Resources Committee.
“I believe there is no greater privilege than the opportunity to be chosen as a MLA,” says Masland.  “People can trust that I will be their strong voice in Halifax, and I hope that they will reach out to me with their concerns.”
