MILTON - This holiday season, the community of Milton is offering a series of events for the whole family to raise money for continual maintenance and upkeep of the Milton Memorial Hall.
The first event, on Dec. 3, is the annual tree lighting party. The Milton Community Association director, Ron Shupe, says this year’s event will be held inside the hall. There will be lots of treats and gifts for the kids given out by a special guest, he says.
“Children are free to bring an ornament for the community tree,” says Shupe.
They will also be collecting non-perishable items for the local food bank.
Besides the tree lighting, there will also be a craft fair onsite earlier in the day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 3.  Shupe says the craft show is already heavily booked, with at least 30 vendors. Entrance is by a food bank donation.
The annual favourite Christmas turkey supper is back again this year on Dec. 9, says Shupe. The dinner will be held at the hall between 4 and 6 p.m., with tickets for $12 and children under five eating for free. Delivery is also available.
The season wraps up in Milton on Dec. 18 with the annual Christmas bingo. In terms of cost, Shupe says it runs the same way as their regular bingo - participants simply buy their cards. There will be a variety of games played, with prizes ranging from $50 and $60 games to half-take games and a jackpot. There is no admission charge.
Throughout the evening, there will be special prizes given out in the form of gift cards.
“Usually,” says Shupe, “we have a special visitor to come visit the players.”
