Brooklyn service remembers war veterans in Queens County

The sun peeked through the clouds ever so slightly at an early Remembrance Day ceremony at the cenotaph in Brooklyn, Queens County, on Nov. 5.
After the cadets marched in and took their places, the ceremony commenced with the singing of ‘Oh Canada,’ followed by the honour rolls of the First World War, Second World War and the Korean War.
“They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old: age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them,” said Bill Cox, reading from the poem For the Fallen, by Robert Laurence Binyon.
The laying of wreathes came next, beginning with the Nova Scotia wreath. Each one was placed in front of the cenotaph.
