It’s hard to believe with all this great weather but we are getting closer to the holidays.
Don’t worry -  this article won’t be about our collection of holiday books (although we do have quite a few if people are interested). No, I want to talk about our yearly fundraising campaign, called Buy-a-Book, Share the Gift of Literacy. It will be running from Nov. 21 – Dec. 31.
Every book in our collection is available for “purchase”. You can come into the library and select an item and then donate the value of it to the library. You can pick anything on the shelf but we will have a large display of new items available to “purchase” as well. You can then dedicate that book to someone and have a nameplate put in the book. Next, check it out to borrow and bring it back for everyone else to enjoy.
This is a great way to honour a special person in your life. You can select their favourite book or author and inspire others to read. If you do not want a bookplate, that’s fine too.
Another option is to make a donation to the library and we’ll purchase something new to share. South Shore Public Libraries is a registered charity so tax receipts will be given for all donations.
These donations help keep the libraries bookshelves stocked with new books. Gifts of all sizes are greatly appreciated. For more information, you can call any of our branches.
