LIVERPOOL - Liverpool’s local brewery is ready to host its first Oktoberfest event Oct. 21.
Mark Baillie, co-owner of Hell Bay Brewing Company, said the event should kick off at about noon and wrap up at around midnight.
To help keep people and music equipment dry in case it rains, a big tent from the Region of Queens Municipality will be set up on the patio. Throughout the day, those interested celebrating Oktoberfest will have the chance to eat sausages and pretzels.
“We have a band lined up for the evening, and they are called Top Notch,” said Baillie.
Baillie said during the day there might be some smaller musical acts.
Top Notch is scheduled to begin playing at approximately 7:30 p.m. and continue until 11:30 p.m.
In addition to music and food, Hell Bay also plans to have a new beer out before the event.
“It’s a dark wheat beer – German-style wheat beer – with coriander and orange peel in it,” Baillie said.
Baillie said he’s wanted to host an Oktoberfest event for the past few years, but he hasn’t – until this year – organized one. He said this year’s would be a “mini Oktoberfest.”
“We’ll just go ahead and do it, see what kind of a response we get and then hopefully do something bigger next year,” he said.

Other events
Oktoberfest is just one of the firsts coming up at Hell Bay. The business recently got a television so sports fans can watch games.
