The second edition of Bridgewater’s summer concert series, Music Along the Riverbank, will kick off on Thursday, July 5, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Pijinuiskaq Park with the South Shore’s own Andrew Muise taking the stage.

Music Along the Riverbank was launched in June 2017. The idea for the summer long event grew out of the Town of Bridgewater’s mission to support community engagement through the involvement of their pristine parks and green spaces. The opening of Pijinuiskaq Park in June of 2017 offered the perfect space for all cultures, and people of all ages in the community to come together, socialize and to enjoy Canadian and East Coast music. Highlights from the 2017 season included performances at King Street Court, Shipyards Landing and Pijinuiskaq Park by Full House, Jill Bond, Ron Muise and a variety of other talented musicians and bands.

This year, the music series will take place at three parks throughout the season; Pijinuiskaq Park on Thursdays, King Street Court on Fridays and a benefit concert in support of PRO Kids on August 25 at Shipyards Landing. The Thursday evening events will run every week from 6:30-8 p.m. at Pijinuiskaq Park. The Friday afternoon events will run on select Fridays from 1-2:30 p.m. at King Street Court.

Accessibility is a focus of these events! All the parks hosting the musicians are wheelchair accessible. Seating at King Street Court and Pijinuiskaq Park are bleacher style so visitors can sit down and enjoy the music. Shipyards Landing has a large field where visitors can set up a picnic blanket or foldup chair for comfort. Each park has a unique view of the beautiful LaHave River.

With food vendors, kids activities and the beautiful LaHave River as backdrop, these concerts are sure to appeal to all branches of the community. Check out the diverse lineup of musicians, including T.Thomason, who was recently crowned winner of the Casino Nova Scotia Artist-in-Residence competition.
